SANYO Laser Products Honored with Starr-Gennett Foundation’s Legacy Award Richmond, Indiana – SANYO Laser Products has received the Legacy Award by the Starr-Gennett Foundation for SANYO’s ongoing support of the musical arts. The Starr-Gennett Foundation, a Richmond, Indiana historical musical arts organization, awarded SANYO Laser Products the award for their ongoing support of the foundation’s work. The foundation’s mandate is to bring back to life the proud 100-year music tradition that originated from the many innovations pioneered by Gennett Records. This is done through the re-releasing of original recordings from Gennett, the first recorded jazz in the world, through CD production of the “Gennett Records Great Hits” boxed set series. In remarks commending the foundation’s work, Mr. Hideo Nakai, president and CEO of SANYO Laser Products, comments, “the Gennett music is a cultural treasure and is very valuable not only to the Richmond community, but also as the national cultural landmark it is.” He continues, “Our entire SANYO staff is proud of the support provided to the Starr-Gennett Foundation. The foundation’s work is very important to all of us.” This non-profit foundation is dedicated to promoting the musical heritage of the Gennett Record Company and its parent, Starr Piano Company, in Richmond, Indiana. Three volumes of Gennett Records Greatest Hits have been produced and released. Volume 1 was released by the Wayne County (IN) Historical Museum. Volumes 2 and 3 and a boxed set of all three were released by the Starr-Gennett Foundation. SANYO Laser Products manufactured all three CD-sets.
